The Health Sciences Academy (HSA) offers an innovative learning experience that combines academic excellence with real-world healthcare applications. Our program emphasizes a healthcare-focused curriculum featuring project-based and hands-on learning, preparing students for both rigorous academic challenges and diverse career opportunities in the healthcare field.

From Campus to Clinical: A Three-Year Educational Journey

The unique structure of our academy provides an unparalleled middle school experience in Arkansas, challenging students to excel academically while applying their knowledge in real-world contexts. Our program is designed for all students eager to engage in high-level learning and is not limited to those with a pre-existing interest in healthcare or STEM fields.

6th Grade

Students remain on campus for all classes, laying a strong foundation in math and science.

7th Grade

Students will attend core classes and a specialized Health Professions Class at Baptist Hospital, gaining practical exposure to healthcare settings.

8th Grade

Students will continue their core and Health Professions classes at Mercy Hospital, further immersing themselves in the healthcare environment.

  • Cutting-Edge Curriculum: Utilizing the Project Lead The Way (PLTW) curriculum, our students engage with comprehensive coursework that covers healthcare terminology, ethics, and procedures, equipping them with essential workplace skills.

Applying for HSA

Process

  1. Complete an online application
  2. Interviews
  3. Notification of acceptance
  4. White coat ceremony

Requirements

  • Attendance and Behavior: Students must demonstrate consistent attendance and positive behavior.

  • Academic Performance: Students must meet or exceed Arkansas ACT Aspire standards in literacy and math.

Applicant Selection

A lottery system will be used if the number of applicants exceeds available placements.
